Kent Thameside
The key to success is development and this area has a lot coming its way. Trains are the name of the game and the new and nationally renowned Ebbsfleet International Station is the link between London and Mainland Europe.
Dartford has continued to welcome new companies to the Crossways Business Park and 2008 is heading into further expansion. The Bridge also sees continued work with a massive new warehouse unit finished, set to welcome Sainsbury’s and a niche for small and start-up companies has been developed, known as the Nucleus with Knight Freight also welcomed into the business fold.
Medway
If you’ve been in Medway for any length of time make yourself aware of its 15-year plan! It’s what’s going to make your area one of the most sought after in Kent.
Concurrent with this is the strive to get Chatham Dockyards recognised as a World Heritage Site and the focus on the Medway ‘going green’ and boosting it’s energy-efficiency. Medway prospers from its commitment to projects and it’s tenacity to see them through.
Medway is a hive of activity and the 2012 Olympics show every sign of launching this further with Gillingham in the forefront and investments coming in.
In terms of new businesses hailed, Chatham Maritime has welcomed MedCo. Ltd into a newly finished home and Vanquis Bank is settling in nicely. Gun Wharf office space in Chatham is now recognised as the new HQ for the Medway Council.
Swale
A name that doesn’t truly reflect what the area has to offer, an area undergoing multi-million pound regeneration.
The connection to the Isle of Sheppey is now grounded in the Sheppey Crossing which has been up and running for a year. Counterpart to this is the development of Queensborough and Rushenden and the nucleus of Swale, Sittingbourne, is awaiting its revival as it’s already greeted Screw Fix Ltd with more to come.
And for those scientists amongst you a science innovation is coming in the form of the Kent Science Resource Centre. So watch this space.
Ashford
The borough known for it’s international contacts. But now not only that.
In September 2007 the Stour Centre opened, competing for the title as the best in the South East with first class facilities and a pool to rival any. But as anyone knows, with leisure must come shopping. 2008 is going to bring just that as the County Square Shopping Centre is set to double in size.
And so with each year set to bring something huge, 2009 is no different. The Ashford Learning Campus is going to open as a diverse and adaptable further education centre and the Singleton Environment Centre looks to provide both education and entertainment in all things green. Not only that but Ashford is the setting for the South East’s first construction academy (click here to read more…). A staggering 31,000 jobs will be created in this vibrant town in just 24 years.
So with all Ashford’s added appeal the £7m being channelled into challenging congestion is coming just at the right time.
Having set the scene, onto some business as The Northdown development has been completed at Eureka Park, with three of the five buildings sold. New and significant additions to the business arena are L’Artisan du Chocolat and Lingerie lovers Ltd, so Ashford is certainly buzzing!
